If you’ve ever snapped a picture anywhere along the Erie Canalway and thought it’s definitely calendar-worthy, here’s your chance – the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor is looking for the best snapshots for its 2027 Erie Canalway Calendar.
Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to enter the photo contest.
What You Need To Know
There are four calendar catergories to submit photos
Entries will be judged by a team of professional photographers, designers and canal experts
They will evaluate creativity, quality and effectiveness of the beauty and character of the canal and select three winners in each catergoy and 12 honorable mentions
It’s time to share a look at life, work and recreation along the canal. To celebrate the beauty with everyone, go for it, snap a photo and share something from a different point of view of the historic Erie Canal and all its connected waterways.
Every year, Erie Canalway education program manager Patrick Stenshorn is amazed at the variety of moments captured any time of year along the canal.

“The goal is to highlight what makes the Erie Canalway a special place. I think the photographs themselves give us an indication of what people who live and what people who are visiting the area find so memorable or special about the region,” said Stenshorn.
You can submit up to three photos for consideration for next year’s calendar. Entries will be accepted until Friday, Aug. 28 at Erie Canalway Photo Contest. Winners will be announced sometime in October and the free calendars will be available in December.
