Police: Man charged with homicide in shooting at Mount Pleasant Township home

BUT BIGGER PICTURE HERE. WHAT’S IN OHIO CONTINUES TO FILTER IN. YOU CAN SEE A LITTLE BIT OF YELLOW AND ORANGE. THAT’S AN INDICATOR OF SOME POCKETS OF HEAVY RAINFALL. WE’LL SEE WIDESPREAD RAIN ON AND OFF AT TIMES THROUGH THE DAY. AND THERE IS A RISK THIS AFTERNOON, A SLIGHT RISK AT THAT FROM SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY. WESTMORELAND ON SOUTH AND EAST FOR A STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WHERE WE COULD HAVE SOME DAMAGING WINDS. BUT I THINK WITH ANY STORM, WHETHER IT’S SEVERE OR NOT, WE’LL HAVE SOME HEAVY DOWNPOURS ASSOCIATED WITH IT. STILL, THAT HEAVY RAIN FROM PITTSBURGH ON NORTH AND EAST. A LITTLE BREAK IN THE ACTIVITY THAT IS SHORT LIVED. AS WE GET INTO THE AFTERNOON, TWO 3:00, WE’LL START TO SEE ANOTHER ROUND OF SOME HEAVY RAINFALL, POTENTIALLY SOME STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS TRYING TO DEVELOP THAT COULD CLIP INTO SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF BUTLER AND ARMSTRONG STILL SEE AROUND SEVEN, 8:00 SOUTH AND EAST OF THE CITY. SOME OF THAT RAIN BEFORE WE LOSE THAT DAYTIME HEATING, THE SUN STARTS TO SET AND THINGS WILL QUIET DOWN FOR US, ESPECIALLY AS WE GET LATER TONIGHT AND AFTER MIDNIGHT. BUT LOOKING AT YOUR FOUR DAY FORECAST, WITH THAT HEAVY RAINFALL IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, SOME AREAS COULD SEE OVER AN INCH POSSIBLE. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY FOR SOME FLASH FLOODING NOW, SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS WITH SOME PONDING ON THE ROADWAYS. AGAIN FLASH FLOODING. A Westmoreland County man is charged with homicide in the death of a man identified as his uncle, police said.The coroner’s office said the victim was found dead at a location on Low Street in Mount Pleasant Township at about 11:47 a.m. Saturday. A criminal complaint filed by Pennsylvania State Police identified him as Bruce Kasiewicz.According to the criminal complaint, state police said Joshua Lowry, 45, of Mount Pleasant, called to report that he shot his uncle at his home. Police responded to the scene, finding Lowry there and the victim’s body inside.Looking for more news in your area | Subscribe to the WTAE YouTube ChannelState troopers said they later interviewed Lowry at the police station in Greensburg.”During the interview Lowry informed us of the following: He was awoken at his residence by the victim striking the outside of his bedroom window to wake him. He then proceeded from within the home to remove the chain from the side entrance door so the victim could gain entry. He then returned to his bedroom to get fully dressed,” police said in the complaint. “While dressing, he could overhear the victim inform him he was going to terminate the utilities to the residence prior to a previously agreed upon eviction date. Lowry related, while he was sitting on his bed putting on his pants, he observed the victim in the doorway wearing purple latex gloves on his hands and holding what he described as a wooden oar in his right hand. Lowry stated that he believed the victim was there to kill him which led him to retrieve his muzzleloader from behind his bed. After having difficulty retrieving his firearm, he rotated in the direction of victim, who was standing just inside the entrance of the room. Lowry then cocked the external hammer of the muzzleloader and fired one round, striking the victim in his chest.”Court documents showed that Lowry is being held in the county prison without bail as he awaits a preliminary hearing.Download the WTAE app to stay connected with breaking news.
