CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place Saturday.
Police say the crash was June 20, 2026 at 2:42 p.m. on Interstate 77 at Mile Marker 4 in Carroll County.
The driver of a Coachman Encore recreational vehicle was headed north on 77, lost control, ran off the right side of road and struck the guardrail, according to police.
A passenger, Gretchen H. Karcher, 70 of Pennsylvania, died at the scene. Police say she was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
