UPDATE: Teen identified in fatal Allentown McDonald’s shooting
The victim in Friday night’s shooting at a McDonald’s in Allentown died Monday from his injuries, according to investigators.
The 18-year-old man from Bethlehem was pronounced dead at 1:55 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio said.
Buglio ruled the death a homicide due to gunshot wounds.
Allentown police said in a news release the investigation was ongoing and did not announce anyone was in custody, while noting: “There is no threat to the community.”
The shooting was reported shortly after 9 p.m. Friday outside the 1321 Union Blvd. McDonald’s, according to police.
Officers rendered first aid, and the victim was taken by Allentown EMS to the hospital, police said.
Buglio said he was not immediately releasing the victim’s identity “out of respect for the family, so they may grieve this tragic loss privately.”
“The coroner’s office extends its deepest condolences to the decedent’s family, friends, loved ones, and the surrounding community as all mourn and grieve this tragic loss,” he said in a statement.
The investigation is continuing in coordination with the Allentown Police Detective Division, Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
