OBITUARY

With a heavy heart, the family of John Calpin announces his unexpected death on June 20, 2026.

John was born on June 27, 1960, to the late Thomas and Patricia O’Malley Calpin of Minooka. Following graduation from Scranton Central High School and Baltimore City Police Academy, he went on to have a long and distinguished career as a detective with the Baltimore Police Department, retiring after 30 years.

A true renaissance man, John loved his Irish heritage, Minooka roots, Harleys, his dogs, foster cats, and hockey. Above all, John loved his family and friends. He made friends wherever he went with his quick wit and easy smile. He was unforgettable to those that had the good fortune of meeting him.

John is survived by his loving family including his wife, Kimberly Ann, siblings Robert (Celeste), Kevin, Patricia Regan (Jack) and Mary Ellen DiSilvio (Peter), many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by sister Kathy Moran, brothers Thomas, James, and Michael and sister in-law Mary Calpin.

A memorial service/celebration of life will be scheduled at later date.
