Katelyn M. Godiska, 34, of Bethlehem, was pronounced dead after being transported from Northampton County Prison to St. Luke’s Hospital’s Easton campus on Sunday, June 14, Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek said in a release.
Five days later, Randolph P. Adams, 35, of Bethlehem, was pronounced dead after being transported from the prison to the same hospital on Friday, June 19, according to the coroner.
The cause of death for both inmates was asphyxiation, and the manner of death was ruled suicide, Lysek said. No additional information was released.
Godiska was awaiting a preliminary hearing on multiple charges filed in Bethlehem earlier this month, including aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct, according to court records. She was being held on $75,000 bail.
Court records show Godiska previously pleaded guilty to resisting arrest in Northampton County in 2020 after police said she kicked an officer while being taken into custody during a domestic disturbance investigation in Plainfield Township.
More recently, she pleaded guilty in February to resisting arrest stemming from a September 2025 incident in Bethlehem. An aggravated assault charge filed in that case was withdrawn as part of a negotiated plea, court records show.
Godiska’s obituary described her as a Nazareth Area High School graduate who excelled in lacrosse and worked at Nick’s On Main in Bethlehem. She is survived by her daughter, parents, siblings, extended family, and loved ones.
Her family included a message in her obituary encouraging anyone struggling with mental health challenges to call or text 988.
Adams was being held in Northampton County Prison on multiple pending cases at the time of his death.
One case stemmed from allegations that he entered an occupied pickup truck in Palmer Township on June 3 and attempted to drive away while a woman remained inside the vehicle, according to Palmer Township police. He was charged with robbery of a motor vehicle, theft, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and was jailed on $50,000 bail.
He also was awaiting a preliminary hearing on charges of simple assault and harassment after police alleged he punched his girlfriend several times during an argument in a Palmer Township parking lot in May, according to court records.
A separate Northampton County case charging Adams with possession of a controlled substance and driving without a license remained pending in Common Pleas Court at the time of his death.
