70th class reunion: Dunmore High School class of 1956 will hold its 70th class reunion Aug. 29 from 5-8 p.m. at the Fireside Martini Grill, 411 Chestnut St., Dunmore. Patriotic concert: The First Presbyterian Church of Wilkes-Barre, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Northeast Chapter, American Guild of Organists, will present “Celebrate America: An Independence Day Concert” on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the church’s sanctuary, 97 S. Franklin St. The program will feature organists Bernard Gardzalla, Canon Mark Laubach and Carl Ruck, pianist Alan Hack, a brass quartet and percussion, and a mass choir under the direction of John M. Vaida. Repertoire includes Peter Wilhousky’s arrangement of “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” Mack Wilberg’s “Anthem of Peace,” and Patrick Michael’s newly composed hymn for the United States’ semiquincentennial, “We the People of One Nation.” Also participating is Lyric Consort.
