How it Happened

The Quakers came out the gates hot as Riley Thomson scored just 23 seconds into the game.

Delaware promptly responded with a goal of their own a few minutes later, tying the game at one a piece.

The Blue Hens offense was relentless in the first quarter, recording six corners.

But Quaker goalie Ruby de Frees made it difficult for Delaware to convert corners into goals as she had five saves in the first 15 minutes.

Delaware kept its foot on the gas pedal in the second quarter as Kate Fiest scored and the Blue Hens took a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.

The Blue Hens recorded 18 shots to Penn’s six in the first half as the Quakers looked to get their offense jump started in the second half.

Livia Loozen was the spark plug that Penn needed as the senior scored less than two minutes  into the second half, tying the game 2-2.

Neither team could find their offensive groove in the final quarter of regulation, despite the Quakers having an opportunity to win on a corner with 40 seconds left as the game went into overtime.

Much like the fourth quarter, neither team found success in the circle as both defenses held strong in the first overtime, sending the game to double overtime.

Finally, with the game on the line, Honor Roberts broke down the field and scored her seventh and final goal of the season as the Quakers won, 3-2.

The Red and Blue finished with a 9-7 record on the year, it’s highest win total since 2021.

The future of the program is bright under first-year Head Coach Scott Tupper.
