SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A portion of the popular Lake Scranton walking trail will be temporarily closed beginning Friday as Pennsylvania American Water conducts work in the area.

The utility announced that a section of the path will be closed to pedestrians from June 26 through Aug. 21.

The closure affects the stretch of trail between the small stone bridge, where the walking path meets the roadway, and the Lake Scranton dam near the fishing pier.

Pennsylvania American Water said the closure is being implemented as a safety precaution because of a high volume of traffic expected on the adjacent roadway.

The company is reminding visitors not to bypass closed gates or fencing to access the restricted section of the trail.

The remainder of the Lake Scranton walking path will remain open during the temporary closure.
