VENANGO COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — Pennsylvania State Police recently released details on three separate incidents in Venango and Forest counties involving a deer crash and two drug-related traffic stops.
Mineral Township Deer vs. Car
A woman and her passenger escaped injury after striking a deer in Venango County over the weekend.
According to State Police in Franklin, the incident occurred at 2:57 p.m. on June 20 on Mercer Road in Mineral Township. Police said a 2017 Subaru Impreza was traveling west when a deer entered the roadway from the north into the vehicle’s path.
The vehicle struck the deer before continuing about 100 feet and coming to rest off the roadway along the northern berm of the westbound lane. Neither the 51-year-old female driver nor her 59-year-old male passenger were injured, according to police. Both vehicle occupants were from Reno.
Traffic Stops Lead to Drug Arrests
In Forest County, State Police in Marienville are investigating two separate drug-related traffic stops.
The first occurred at 6:50 p.m. on June 13 along Elm Street in Tionesta Borough. Troopers initiated a traffic stop after observing dark window tint on a 2017 Volkswagen. During the investigation, police said a 26-year-old male passenger from Sligo was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The investigation is ongoing.
A second incident occurred at 11:31 p.m. on June 15 on Route 66 in Jenks Township. According to police, troopers conducted a traffic stop and determined a 35-year-old Coudersport man was allegedly driving under the influence while also in possession of a controlled substance. The investigation remains ongoing.
