READING, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Heartland Herb Society held its annual Herbal Symposium on Monday at the DoubleTree in Reading.
The nonprofit has held the event since 1982.
The goal is to discuss the power and uses of herbs.
This year, participants heard from author William Woys Weaver.
He held a talk on the culinary evolution of Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine.
“All the different strands of the different people…blended together into a kind of regional food identity,” he said.
Weaver also gave a talk about the author of America’s first book on botanical medicine.
