Summer open house: Johnson College will hold its summer open house July 15 from 5-7 p.m. on its Scranton campus. The open house will include discussions about the admissions process, information about financial aid for those who qualify, and student services such as student life, student support and career services. Same-day acceptance will be available for many programs if students bring their high school or college transcripts. Tours of each technical area will be conducted and program directors and instructors will be available to review the specifics of their programs. Brunch with Thomas Jefferson: Lackawanna Historical Society will welcome back living historian Tom Pitz on July 12 at noon for a Brunch with Thomas Jefferson at Posh, 404 N. Washington Ave., Scranton. Long an aficionado of Revolutionary era history, Pitz has been performing as Jefferson since 1987 and has presented at venues around the country. He’ll engage in a dialogue with attendees during the brunch. Cost of the brunch is $35; reservations are required by calling 570-344-3841. The program is sponsored by Toyota of Scranton.

Corn and Clam Slam: William Walker Hose Company will hold the 2026 Corn and Clam Slam, a traditional firemen’s picnic celebration, July 17-18 on the company grounds, 803 Penn Ave., featuring corn, clams, many traditional and ethnic foods, and a variety of beverages. Live music each night includes Bon Poison on July 17 and 3 Brix Shy on July 18. The parade will be held July 18 starting at 6:30 p.m.
