South scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat Abington, 4-1, in American Legion action. South’s rally began in the top of the seventh when it scored a run to send the game into extras. Winning pitcher Ron Chiavacci went the distance, tossing a six-hitter and striking out 14. He also hit a double and scored a run. Tim Moreken’s two-run double in the eighth sparked the extra-inning rally. Moreken and Jonathan Flynn each had two hits. Jamie Smith and Ross Smirne each had two hits for Abington. … Chris Carmody and Jason Meyers each had two hits and two RBIs to lead Honesdale to a 7-5 win over Dickson City.
