STRASBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The next two weeks will be a celebration of life on the Reading at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
Reading Railroad Days takes place from Wednesday, July 1 through Sunday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 8 through Saturday, July 11 during regular museum hours.
A scale model train layout of the Reading will be featured and the museum will also show off ex-Reading equipment like a 108-year-old tank engine, a 95-year-old commuter car, and a 188-year-old Rocket steam locomotive.
In its heyday, the Reading was a multi-faceted industrial giant rooted in east-central Pennsylvania’s anthracite coalfields. The company owned numerous anthracite coal mines and transported such to market, in addition to other ventures like canals and shipbuilding.

The Reading Railroad was one of several that merged into Conrail in the 1970’s.
