An elderly woman is recovering in the hospital after she was found unconscious in a park bus outside of a senior living facility, according to a spokesperson with the Lower Merion Police Department.
A group of senior citizens had gone on a scenic trip on Monday, July 28 when they returned to find a woman inside the bus, Vice President of LCB Senior Living, Ted Doyle, told NBC10.
Officers were then called to The Residence at Bala Cynwyd on the 200 block of Rock Hill Road just after 5:30 p.m., police reported.
When officers got to the scene they found an 81-year-old woman unconscious inside a parked bus outside in the parking lot, officials said.
The officers were able to get into the bus and remove the woman, according to police. She was taken to a nearby hospital where is recovering and listed in stable condition.
“Our focus at this time is on supporting our resident, her family and our broader community in the face of this challenging issue. At the same time, we must acknowledge that circumstances leading up to her hospitalization should not have occurred. We will thoroughly investigate what happened and take every step necessary to ensure that the support we provide lives up to our own high standards. We are fully cooperating with all outside authorities, taking immediate steps to reinforce our protocols for accounting for residents after outside events, and reviewing all aspects of our policies to assure additional safeguards are in place,” LCB Senior Living wrote in a statement shared with NBC10.
The Lower Merion Township Police Investigations Unit is investigating this incident.
