Three men, including two from Reading, have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges they robbed two employees of a skill game operator at gunpoint in Franklin County.

Alfredo C. Padilla, 48, and Ceferino C. Hernandez, 49, both of Reading, and Paul G. Simmons, 51, of Philadelphia were charged Friday with robbery and firearm offenses, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Brian D. Miller of the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

The three defendants conspired to rob two employees of the skill game operator on March 18, 2024, according to the release.

Federal officials provided no further details.

According to media reports that cited police and court documents:

The defendants stole about $270,000 in skill games money that was in cases from two security guards at gunpoint as the guards were loading the money into a van outside a business at the Southgate Shopping Center in Chambersburg.

The defendants, during their getaway, dumped the cases in different areas of Chambersburg, including at Caledonia State Park.

Investigators tracked the getaway vehicle to a garage in Reading. Documents with Cardona’s name on them were found inside the vehicle.

Padilla, who was arrested in April 2024, is accused of being the getaway driver.

Hernandez was arrested in January 2025.
