Woman stabbed to death in Pennsylvania, suspect barricades themselves in nearby home, police say

GILPIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A woman was found stabbed to death in Armstrong County, leading to a barricade situation.

Officers from the Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department responded to the scene on Sunday evening for a reported stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a deceased woman on the scene.

Police immediately began to look for a suspect, who ended up barricading themselves inside a nearby home. The suspect was ultimately taken into custody without further incident.

Due to the circumstances, the Pennsylvania State Police were requested to assist and later assumed lead investigative following consultation with the Armstrong County District Attorney’s Office.

Police said there is no known threat to the public.

The Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department extended its appreciation to all responding agencies for their professionalism and cooperation during the incident.
