READING, Pa.- The Berks County Area Agency is encouraging older adults to use the County’s senior centers as cooling locations amid high temperatures.
The senior centers will operate normal business hours and offer water, information on heat safety resources and assistance programs, and more, the Agency said in a news release.
“Extreme heat can be particularly dangerous for older adults, and no one should feel they have to face this weather alone,” Katie Cathmark, the Agency’s Deputy Director, said.
Residents should stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activity during peak heat, and check on older adults, according to the report.
The Agency said they will offer free fans for individuals over 60 at their Mohnton senior center.
