Diva Productions at The Olde Brick Theatre, in collaboration with Actors Circle, presents the Tony Award-winning musical 1776 at West Scranton Intermediate School in Scranton from June 19 through June 28, 2026.
Supported by a grant from America250PA, this production is the only grant-supported America250PA theatrical project in Northeast Pennsylvania commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. Featuring music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and a book by Peter Stone, 1776 brings audiences inside the debates, compromises and historic moments that led to the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The production is directed by Artistic Director Paige Balitski, with Musical Director Max Roche, Choreographer Mollie Boyd, Stage Manager Andi DeSando, Set Designer Kylie Pimental and Costume Designer Judith Mulder. Community performers and volunteers from across the region contribute to this collaborative celebration of history, civic engagement and the performing arts.
Performances will be held June 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 and 28. General admission is $25. Tickets for students, seniors, veterans and children are $15.
Experience the story behind America’s founding when 1776 takes the stage in Scranton as part of the nation’s Semiquincentennial celebration.
