The 19-year-old man who died after he was shot early Sunday in Archbald was from Scranton and worked at a popular seafood restaurant.
Authorities continue to investigate the death of Tyvon Ash, who was shot once in the chest, according to the Lackawanna County coroner’s office. He was taken by ambulance to Geisinger Community Medical Center, where he died in the emergency department.
He was shot early Sunday at Laurel and Park streets in the borough, Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian Gallagher said. Lackawanna County 911 dispatchers sent Archbald emergency responders to Laurel and Park streets at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday for the report of a vehicle into a utility pole. The man inside the car was described as unresponsive and not breathing.

Employees of Cooper’s Seafood House are mourning an employee who was beloved by colleagues and customers. Paul Cooper, co-owner, said Ash worked at the restaurant full time for two years. He said he was respectful, hardworking, vibrant and full of life.
“I would get great comments from customers about him,” he said. “I’d always tell him, ‘I want to meet your parents because you were raised right.’”
Ash was hired as a busboy but was promoted to server a year ago. He was a favorite employee to work with among managers, Cooper said. Employees are stunned and saddened by their colleague’s death.
“We’re in shock,” Cooper said. “Everyone liked him. He was just a great kid. He will be missed.”
The district attorney’s office and the Lackawanna County coroner’s office are investigating, along with state police and the Archbald Police Department. Gallagher said Monday the investigation is ongoing.
