A new Associated Press analysis of immigration-related arrests shows a major surge in activity during the first 14 months of President Donald Trump’s second term, with Pennsylvania seeing one of the biggest increases. Data from UC Berkeley’s Deportation Data Project shows arrests in Pennsylvania jumped from 2,004 in the final 14 months of the Biden administration to 8,796 between January 20 of 2025 and March 11 of this year. That is more than quadruple the previous number which puts Pennsylvania at 10th in the nation for the most arrests during that period. Pennsylvania also houses the largest immigration detention center in the Northeast — the Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Clearfield County — that has a capacity of about 1,800 detainees.
