James R. Mensch
OBITUARY
James R. (Poppi) Mensch, 85, of Sinking Spring, PA, passed away Thursday, June 25th, at Tower Health Reading Hospital, West Reading.
James was born in Reading, PA on December 19, 1940, a son of the late Mary J. (Gambler) and James N. Mensch.
He was the widower of Cheryl A (Fister) Mensch, who predeceased him in 2016. They were married for over 50 years.
A graduate Governor Mifflin High School, class of 1958, He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Sinking Spring, PA 19608., He served on St. John’s Church council for 6 years.
James worked as a Truck Driver for 32 years, retiring in 2005. He worked for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines, and Premium (Cott) Beverage. He also served on the Borough of Sinking Spring as a councilman for 8 years.
James is survived by a son, J. Gregory Mensch of Kenhorst, 2 daughters, Holly J., wife of Jeffrey Mc Dennis of Sinking Spring, PA, and Julie, wife of William Foster, Jr. of Sinking Spring, PA, 4 grandchildren and one great grand son of whom he said, while holding him, “That’s a fine baby.”
Poppi was a member of several local organizations listed on our online obituary.
James is also survived by a sister, Patricia, wife of Michael Schrum of Wernersville, and 1 brother Michael Mensch, husband of Margaret of Wernersville and his sister in law Frieda Mensch, widow of Thomas Mensch of St. Lawrence.
Interment at Forest Hills Memorial Park Mt. Penn, PA. at the convenience of the family A gathering will be held at a future date,
