A pair of future Phillies fireballers will represent the organization at the 2026 All-Star Futures Game.

Right-handers Gage Wood, the club’s top pitching prospect, and Wen-Hui Pan were selected Wednesday to join the National League’s group of top young talent. The game is Sunday, July 12, at noon ET on NBC.

They could also be throwing off the Citizens Bank Park mound they hope to one day call home.

Wood, 22, has been a strikeout machine in his first full professional season. The Phillies selected the 6-foot, 205-pound Arkansas product in the first round last summer, and he has used a high-90s fastball and plus breaking pitches to post a 3.63 ERA with 75 strikeouts in 52 innings.

That work has come between Single-A Clearwater and Double-A Reading. Wood skipped High-A, an aggressive assignment that showed the organization’s confidence in the right-hander.

Last year, Wood headlined a run of nine pitchers selected among the Phillies’ top 10 draft picks. After taking position players in the first round for three straight years — Justin Crawford, Aidan Miller and Dante Nori — the Phillies went heavy on arms. Only 37 percent of their top-10 selections in those three previous drafts had been pitchers.

Given the way the Phillies’ pitching depth has been tested this season, this might not be the last time fans see Wood in South Philadelphia. He has improved his command at Double-A and could put himself in the conversation for a bullpen or swingman role down the road.

Phillies fans saw Ranger Suárez fill that type of role during the club’s 2022 National League pennant run.

Brian Barber, the Phillies Assistant GM of Amateur Scouting, spoke on their selection of Gage Wood and other early picks.

Pan, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound right-hander from Hualien, Taiwan, brings a similar physical frame to former Yankees right-hander Chien-Ming Wang. His fastball can approach triple digits, and he pairs it with a hard splitter that falls off the table.

The 23-year-old missed all of 2025 after Tommy John surgery, but showed promise in 2024. Now working exclusively out of the bullpen, the Phillies’ No. 12 prospect, according to MLB.com, has earned two promotions this season, first to High-A, off of a rehab assignment, and then to Double-A.

Like Wood, Pan’s path to the majors will come down to command.

The Phillies have shown a willingness to use young arms in their bullpen when the opportunity is there. Orion Kerkering, drafted in 2022, became part of the club’s relief mix during its 2023 postseason run.

Right-handed starter Ramón Márquez, the No. 9 prospect at High-A Jersey Shore, and reliever Alex McFarlane, the No. 17 prospect at Double-A Reading, are also having representative seasons.

Catcher Alirio Ferrebus, the No. 21 prospect at Clearwater, and shortstop Bryan Rincon, the No. 27 prospect at Reading, are others worth watching as the minor league season moves along.
