Elk members and officers of the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Elks 109 celebrated Flag Day on June 14 at the Pringle Fire Hall with Kingston Boys Scout Troop 154 members.
The Color Guard was presented by Life Rank Scout Ryan Rogowski, Light Cub Scout Ashton Wootton (new crossover to Troop 154) and Eagle Scout Zachary Sales.
The scouts and leaders were present for the Elks presentation of the history of the flag, led by Trustee George Wiencek and Leading Knight Marion Marosevitch.
Mary Theroux, past exalted ruler and Americanism chair, presented Eagle Scout Zachary Sales of Edwardsville with the National Elks Eagle Scout Recognition certificate.
Post Commander Mark Price also spoke of Zachary’s character and his efforts in collecting supplies for homeless veterans for the Forward Support Base Initiative. Zach utilized his webmaster skills to use a barcode so that people could also donate online.
Zachary’s parents, Todd and Samantha Sales, active leaders in Kingston BSA Troop 154, were also thanked for their contribution in supporting Zachary on his successful journey to Eagle Rank attainment. For more information on the FSB Initiative, visit FSBINC.org.
Zachary’s Eagle project was collecting drinks, snacks and supplies for the FSB Initiative in Luzerne County. The FSB Initiative is a 501C3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to help homeless veterans with supplies.
