Celebrate the 1791 founding of the First Bank of the United States, established by Alexander Hamilton, at Philadelphia’s Firstival. Originating in the city’s Old City neighborhood, the First Bank of the United States laid the financial groundwork for the young nation. At the celebration, you’ll get a chance to see a commemorative sculpture by West Philadelphia artist Malachi Floyd, a self-taught painter and multimedia artist whose work draws on personal history and Philadelphia’s cultural legacy. Floyd’s father took him on tours of the Old City as a child, and Floyd is set to become a featured artist in the Ministry of Awe’s upcoming interactive art bank.
