Erie police are searching for a suspect in a break-in at a State Street convenience store in the city’s downtown Nov. 3.

The burglary was reported on Nov. 3 at 4:15 a.m. at Samir’s Convenience and Smoke Store, 1010 State St. Officers who responded to the store found the bottom portion of a front window to the store cut out, Erie police Deputy Chief Rick Lorah said.

Police reviewed surveillance video from the store that showed a man wearing dark clothing and a face covering cutting out the window and entering the store with an object in his hand. The man then attempted to cut the lock off a skills game machine before an alarm sounded and the man fled, Lorah said.

A similar incident was reported at the store on Oct. 30, according to Lorah. City police detectives are investigating both incidents, he said.
