A man was arrested on a murder charge days after police, responding to a vehicle crash in Erie, found a woman dead outside the vehicle on June 21.
Justin De Nileon, 29, is facing one count of first-degree murder – after deliberation; and one count of violation of a protection order, according to online court records.
About 1 a.m. June 21, Erie police were dispatched to the crash at Weld County Road 7 and Weld County Road 6, according to a Weld County District Attorney’s Office news release posted Wednesday afternoon.
When police arrived, they found the 28-year-old woman dead outside the vehicle.
The amount and location of blood were not consistent with a vehicle crash or with a person being thrown from a vehicle, according to the release. A warrant was issued for De Nileon’s arrest June 24, and he was arrested the next day.
The release did not provide additional information about the crash or police response.
De Nileon is being held without bond at the Weld County Jail. He is set to appear for a disposition hearing at 10 a.m. Sept. 2 in Weld County District Court, according to court records.
De Nileon was arrested in a May Broomfield case on charges of second-degree kidnapping, felony menacing, and third-degree assault, according to online court records. He is set to appear for a preliminary hearing in that case at 1:30 p.m. July 23 for a preliminary hearing.
