A superstar couple is sharing the spotlight with Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank.

Singer Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce donated $1 million to the organization that provides food assistance to residents in Berks and Schuylkill counties.

According to the Associated Press, Helping Harvest is one of 20 organizations to receive a combined $26 million ahead of their Friday wedding at Madison Square Garden. Many of the charities are located in areas where the couple has deep ties.

Helping Harvest President Jay Worrall noted that Swift, who grew up in Wyomissing, has a history of supporting organizations that work to combat food insecurity.

In December, she donated $1 million to Feeding America, the largest hunger relief organization in the country. Helping Harvest is a partner of that national network.

Worrall said Thursday that the organization was thrilled to learn of this unexpected but greatly appreciated donation from a global superstar who grew up right here in our service territory and her fiance.

“At a time when more neighbors than ever are coming to food banks for assistance, Taylor and Travis’ generosity will enable us to continue fulfilling our mission of providing nutritious food to people facing hunger in our communities,” he said.

Worrall said Helping Harvest has seen a huge increase in demand for food assistance over the last several months and has distributed record amounts of food so far this year.

In the first five months of 2026, he said the food bank distributed over 5.3 million pounds of food in Berks and Schuylkill counties and is on pace to distribute over 14 million pounds this year — breaking the previous distribution record set last year.
