SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Mansour’s Market Cafe in the Hill Section of Scranton launched Lemon Drop, a fresh-squeezed lemonade service, on Thursday with a one-day pop-up event.
The lemonade stand was set up outside the cafe on Prescott Avenue as a trial run for a new addition to the business, which will now offer lemonade in-house and at private events.
Mansour’s is owned by Carolyn and Mike Catalano, who purchased the family-run breakfast and lunch cafe in 2016 and continued its role as a neighborhood gathering place.
Carolyn said the one-day pop-up let the business introduce Lemon Drop before adding it to regular service.
“So we’re doing a pop-up tonight just to showcase what we’re starting. In addition to our breakfast and lunch business, we’re going to be offering a fresh-squeezed lemonade stand that you can add to any private event. We’re also going to be serving it in-house, making some different flavors, some fun mixes and just a classic fresh-squeezed lemonade,” said Carolyn.
Carolyn added that the overall community response had been strong, with support from neighbors, family and friends.
The Lemon Drop menu includes classic lemonade, along with specialty flavors such as strawberry and lavender. Carolyn said they also plan to offer seasonal recipes, including Fourth of July-themed lemonade options.
Mike described Lemon Drop as a way to bring the lemonade stand to events beyond the restaurant, including corporate events, weddings, anniversaries and showers.
“So we’re starting a new offshoot of Mansour’s called Mansour’s Market Lemon Drop. It’s a fresh-squeezed lemonade stand service that we’re just doing a pop-up for. We’ll do pop-up events here and there at the restaurant, as well as offer the product during our normal lunch service. But we’re also looking to make your special event even more special with the lemonade stand,” said Mike.
Mansour’s Market Lemon Drop is now available at the restaurant during regular service and can be requested for private events.
