Oklahoma City mayor joins dozens nationwide for march in Philadelphia
The mayor of Oklahoma City joined more than 100 others from around the nation in Philadelphia Thursday for a march in honor of America 250.

The mayor of Oklahoma City joined more than 100 others from around the nation in Philadelphia Thursday for a march in honor of America 250.According to a post on the social media site X, Mayor David Holt marched to Independence Hall to honor the Declaration of Independence. Holt said leaders from across the political spectrum, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents took part.”No elected officials in America believe more in this experiment than America’s mayors,” said Holt. “We work each day to apply these democratic principles in the pursuit of equality, life, liberty and happiness.”While the U.S. celebrates independence on July 4, the Second Continental Congress actually passed the resolution establishing our independence from Great Britain on July 2, 1776. Holt said with the Declaration, Congress left two distinct legacies. One established our independent nation, and the other established what he called “the unique moral foundation for the American experiment.”
