SOUNDS AND CELEBRATED THIS MILESTONE IN OUR NATION’S HISTORY. WELL, IT WAS A LITTLE LATER THAN EXPECTED, BUT THE FIREWORKS DID FINALLY GO OFF BECAUSE OF THE RAIN DELAYS HERE. THE LINES WERE SO LONG TO GET BACK INTO THE POINT THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE LEFT WATCHING OUTSIDE, BUT EVERYONE REALLY MAKING THE MOST OF THIS CELEBRATION, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO CAME FROM FAR AWAY. WERE YOU EXPECTING TO SEE THE CROWDS THIS LARGE WHEN YOU SHOWED UP? NO, WE WEREN’T, BUT WE’RE JUST LEANING IN AT THIS POINT. SO WHAT’S THE STRATEGY HERE FOR WATCHING TONIGHT? THIS IS IT. WE’RE STAYING RIGHT HERE. EARLY AFTERNOON STORMS THAT LASTED WELL INTO THE EVENING LEFT FOLKS WAITING AROUND BEFORE GETTING INTO THE FESTIVITIES. AND THIS WAS THE LINE. IT WAS INSANE. EXPECTING A LINE THIS LONG TO COME OUT HERE. BUT, I MEAN, IT IS A BIG CELEBRATION. I KNOW IT WAS CRAZY. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE I’VE EVER SEEN BEFORE. IF THEY DECIDED TO GO IN. MANY MADE THE MOST OF THE WAIT. IT’S JUST BEEN LIKE WALKING AROUND. WE WERE PLAYING HEADS UP. YEAH WE WERE. YEAH. BUT YEAH. ON THE NORTH SHORE WHERE CROWDS WERE A LITTLE SMALLER, FOLKS WERE ABLE TO GO INTO BARS AND RESTAURANTS TO WAIT OUT THE BAD WEATHER. IT WAS FUN. A LOT OF KIDS. IT WAS GREAT. EVERYONE THAT GOT IN ON BOTH SIDES, THOUGH, SAYS THE RAIN DIDN’T PUT A DAMPER ON THEIR 4TH OF JULY FESTIVITIES, THAT THEY DROVE FROM NEAR AND FAR TO SEE. OBVIOUSLY, LIKE THE GRASS IS A LITTLE WET FROM THE RAIN, BUT THE FUNNEL CAKE IS GOOD. THE FRIED OREOS ARE GOOD. EVERYBODY SEEMS TO BE HAVING A GOOD TIME, AND I’M JUS
Weather delays didn’t dampen spirits as hundreds took to Downtown for 4th of July fireworks

Fourth of July festivities were delayed in Pittsburgh due to severe weather rolling through for much of the evening. Gates reopened on the North Shore and at Point State Park just after 8 p.m. Since everyone was trying to get inside all at once, the lines were massive and created unexpected wait times. Many folks decided to stay outside and just watch the fireworks show from the sidewalks downtown. “It was insane. Oh, I’m expecting a line this long, I’m out here. But, I mean, it is a big celebration. Oh, God, that was crazy. But nothing like I ever seen before,” said Denise and Deliliah Roush of Baldwin. The lines were shorter on the North Shore, and people were able to spend time in the bars and restaurants on North Shore Drive during the shelter-in-place order. In all parts of the celebration, people still enjoyed vendors, music, food and of course, fireworks. They say some rain didn’t put a damper on their celebration.“Obviously like the grass is a little wet from the rain, but the funnel cakes are good, the fried Oreos are good. Everybody seems to be having a good time. I’m just so excited for the fireworks,” said Jaelyn Carr of Uniontown.
