A 33-year-old Bethlehem man was hospitalized after being stabbed along the South Side Greenway behind the 200 block of East Fourth Street on the city’s South Side, police said.

The stabbing happened around 4:47 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, police explained in a follow-up release.

Officers found the man suffering from two stab wounds when they arrived. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, police said.

Police quickly located a man and a woman believed to be involved nearby. Both were detained, cooperated with investigators, and later released as detectives continued gathering information, police said. Officers also recovered the suspected weapon.

Detectives determined the people involved know one another and all have ties to Bethlehem. Investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

The Bethlehem Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to investigate alongside the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office. Once the investigation is complete, the DA’s Office will determine whether criminal charges are warranted.

Anyone who witnessed the stabbing or has information is asked to contact the Bethlehem Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 610-865-7162.
