A unique motorsports event is headed to Erie as The Motordrome on the Bay makes its first appearance at Lake Erie Speedway on September 26, bringing high-speed antique motorcycle racing to local fans.
The event will feature riders competing on vintage motorcycles as they race around an oval track at full speed without brakes, offering spectators a rare glimpse into one of motorsports’ most distinctive disciplines.
Racing action is scheduled from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., while a special VIP meet-and-greet session will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Five different racing classes will compete throughout the day, showcasing a variety of antique motorcycles and rider skill levels. Popular motorcycle personality Danger Dan will serve as emcee for the event.
General admission tickets are $25, while children 16 and under will be admitted free.
For those seeking a more immersive experience, VIP tickets are available for $75. The package includes early access to the venue, a meet-and-greet with autograph opportunities, an up-close look at the antique motorcycles and premium seating for the races.
The event is also welcoming participants. Rider registration is currently open for motorcycle enthusiasts interested in competing. Registration costs $350 per rider and provides an opportunity to test riding skills, connect with fellow antique motorcycle enthusiasts and experience the sport firsthand.
Organizers say the event aims to introduce a new motorsports attraction to the Erie area while celebrating the history and excitement of vintage motorcycle racing.
