Fresh off the announcement that Cardinal Flix will bring its latest feature film production to Northeastern Pennsylvania, the New York City-based independent film studio is inviting local audiences to experience its acclaimed films firsthand through the Cardinal Flix Summer Film Series at Scranton’s Art Haus Theater.

The series will kick off Thursday, July 9, at 6 p.m. with a special screening of the award-winning drama “A Stage of Twilight,” followed by a live panel discussion featuring acclaimed actor William Sadler.

Widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s most versatile character actors, Sadler has built a distinguished career spanning more than four decades across film, television, and the stage. Audiences around the world know him from a remarkable range of performances, including Heywood in “The Shawshank Redemption,” the unforgettable Grim Reaper in the Bill & Ted franchise, and the villainous Colonel Stuart in “Die Hard 2.” His extensive body of work also includes prominent roles in “The Green Mile,” “The Pacific,” “Roswell,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” and appearances within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With more than 100 screen credits to his name, Sadler has earned a reputation for bringing depth, authenticity, and memorable presence to every role, making his appearance in Scranton a unique opportunity for film fans and aspiring actors alike.

Tickets for the July 9 screening and panel discussion are now available through the Art Haus Theater website.

The event marks the first major celebrity appearance announced by Cardinal Flix since company co-founders Sarah T. Schwab and Brian Long recently revealed plans to establish an ongoing filmmaking presence in Northeastern Pennsylvania through a series of feature film productions, beginning with the psychological thriller “Arachnophilia.”

“We wanted to give the community an opportunity to experience the type of storytelling Cardinal Flix is known for while also creating meaningful connections between audiences and the filmmakers behind the work,” said Schwab. “They’re about bringing people together through film, creating conversations, and introducing audiences to the creative process.”

“A Stage of Twilight” stars Karen Allen, best known for her role as Marion Ravenwood in Raiders of the Lost Ark, alongside Sadler. The film follows retired couple Cora and Barry as they confront the emotional realities of terminal illness, exploring themes of love, dignity, family, and resilience. The film earned critical acclaim on the festival circuit for its powerful performances and heartfelt storytelling.

Each screening will feature filmmaker conversations, audience Q&A sessions, and networking opportunities designed to give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at independent filmmaking.

Long said the series reflects Cardinal Flix’s broader commitment to cultivating a filmmaking community in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

“As we begin laying the foundation for our future productions here, we’re inviting the community to become part of the journey,” Long said. “Whether someone is a film fan, a student, a creative professional, or simply curious about the industry, these events offer a unique opportunity to engage directly with working filmmakers and actors while helping us build a stronger film community in the region.”
