READING, Pa.- CASA of Berks County appointed Laura Biancone as its new Executive Director.
CASA recruits, trains, and supports community volunteers who advocate for children involved in the child welfare system, CASA of Berks County said in a news release.
Volunteers serve as the child’s voice in court and ensure each child can have a safe home, according to the report.
As Executive Director, Biancone will advance CASA’s mission by managing community partnerships, expanding and training volunteers for Court Appointed Special Advocates, and ensuring each child has an advocate for a safe home, according to the report.
Biancone was previously the Executive Director of the LGBT Center of Greater Reading, according to the release.
“She took the helm at a pivotal moment for our organization, and we are pleased to see her bring that same leadership to CASA,” Kai Miller, acting president of the board of directors for the LGBT Center of Greater Reading said.
CASA said Biancone previously served as their volunteer supervisor.
“Laura’s vision and passion for CASA of Berks County is palpable,” Ben Watts, Board President, said. “We are excited to have her join our team!”
