Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 1937, Francis J. Houston led a life of service and faith.
A graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, he earned both a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Social Work from the University of Scranton. His distinguished career included teaching at Van Buren Elementary and St. Michael’s School for Boys, serving as Executive Director of the Girl Scouts in Martinsburg, and mentoring countless youth through St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. In later years, he guided adult learners toward their education with compassion and encouragement.
He is survived by his loving family and remembered for his wisdom, humor, kindness, and devotion.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 6pm to 8pm at Brown Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Frank will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Martinsburg. Interment at Rosedale Funeral Home.
