Dina’s Authentic Dominican Kitchen owner Dina Csir is no stranger to helping others.

“I grew up doing mission work,” said Csir.  “I know how it is for people to feel necessity and need a hand.”

With SNAP benefits coming to a halt, she decided to take action.

As part of Dina’s Government Shutdown Special, Csir is offering discounted meals to member of the community who have lost food benefits due to the government shutdown.

“I think we should all help people that are in need right now,” said Csir.  “It’s important for us to show love and support and show people that they can have a little hope.”

Dina’s isn’t the only restaurant at the Flagship City Food Hall offering deals.

Ippa Pizza Napoletana is also offering $8.00 base pizzas to all SNAP recipients who show their card, no questions asked.

“Coming up on the holidays, it’s something we’ve been talking about getting involved in the community,” said Ippa Pizza Napoletana owner Bobby Holmes.  “Getting the team involved in the community more and then, shout out to the EDDC as well, for putting us all in the position to be able to do nice things like this.”

For Csir and Holmes, it’s their way of helping the community in a time of need.

“Hopefully, this is done soon and everything can go normal, and so people can get the help they need.” said Csir.Â
