Authorities stop car with PIT maneuver after man leads troopers on pursuit on Route 22 in Bethlehem, state police say | Bethlehem Area

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police are accusing a man of leading troopers on a pursuit along Route 22 in Bethlehem Sunday.

In a news release, Pennsylvania State Police say troopers conducted a traffic stop on Paulo Silva, 50, who was found to have a warrant for fleeing and eluding.

State police say Silva fled the traffic stop after being informed of the warrant.

After troopers spotted Silva’s vehicle, authorities used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver on Route 22, state police said in the news release.

Authorities took Silva into custody after his vehicle was brought to a stop, according to state police.

State police say troopers took Silva, who had minor injuries, to a local hospital, where he was evaluated and then released.

Silva, who is facing charges, was taken to Lehigh County Prison.
