Elio Brunori had two hits, including a two-run home run, to lead Carbino Club/Archbald to a 4-1 victory over Wallenpaupack in the opening round of the District 32 Majors Baseball tournament Monday at Green Ridge.
Brunori pitched 1.1 innings of hitless relief, striking out four in relief of starter Mason Buczynski, who notched the win. Talon Prutzman went the final two innings to earn the save.
Buczynski had two hits, including a double, and Silas Wilson tripled for Carbino.
Jeffrey Wentzell had two hits, including a double, and Jake Seltzer doubled for Wallenpaupack.
Carbino will face Green Ridge, a 7-3 winner over Christy Mathewson, in the winners’ bracket final Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Christy Mathewson in Benton Twp.
Wallenpaupack will face Christy Mathewson in an elimination game Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., also at Christy Mathewson.
Green Ridge 7, Christy Mathewson 3: At Green Ridge, Christian Liuzzo had two hits, including a three-run double, for the winners.
Winning pitcher Mattingly Ardan allowed two hits in 4.1 innings.
Rhett Higgins had a two-run double, and Evan Pagnotti doubled for Christy Mathewson.
District 17 Majors Baseball
Gio Sosa went 2 for 2 with a home run to lead Moosic to an 8-7 victory over North Pocono in the opening round of the District 17 Majors Baseball tournament at Abington.
Sosa also struck out three in three innings, while Wyatt Davis struck out eight in three innings and added two RBIs at the plate.
SJ Genell had a hit and scored two runs for the winners.
Brody Lafferty had a double, Max Seder went 1 for 1 and James Walsh had a single and an RBI for North Pocono.
Moosic will face Abington Blue, an 11-2 winner over Dunmore, in the winners’ bracket final Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Moosic.
North Pocono will face Dunmore in an elimination game Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., also at Moosic.
Abington Blue 11, Dunmore 2: At Abington, Evan Ross allowed one hit and no runs and struck out five in three innings, as Abington Blue defeated Dunmore.
Ross added a double and an RBI.
Jaxon Hizny had a home run, a double and an RBI, Vincie Pricci had a single, a double and an RBI, Bradley McDonald had a double, Carson Walsh had a double and an RBI and Patrick Davis had a single for Abington.
Max Shursky had a triple and two RBIs, and struck out four in 1.2 innings, while Owen Walsh had a single, struck out three and allowed no hits in 1.1 innings for the winners.
Luciano Cintron had a home run, and Nick Demuro had two singles for Dunmore.
District 17 Minors Baseball
Ford Eckenrode and Santo Zanghi combined on a three-inning no-hitter, as Abington defeated Moosic, 28-0, in the opening round of the District 17 Minors Baseball tournament at Abington.
Eckenrode pitched two innings and struck out three, before Zanghi pitched one inning and struck out two.
Jack Keeler had a triple, a single and three RBIs, Connor Mitchell had three hits and four RBIs, Santo Zanghi had two hits and one RBI, Noah Troy had three hits and three RBIs, Patrick Scanlon had two hits and two RBIs, Mikey Fogley had two hits and one RBI and Luca Bossi had two hits and one RBI for the winners.
Abington will face Jefferson Twp., a 13-4 winner over Old Forge, in the winners’ bracket final Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Old Forge.
Moosic will face Old Forge in the elimination bracket Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., also at Old Forge.
