This summer, volunteers will come together in Birdsboro with one shared purpose — to serve others with open hands and open hearts.
Mission Trip Birdsboro & Beyond is more than a week of volunteer work — it is a movement of compassion, unity, and faith in action.
Through home repairs, community outreach, fellowship, and acts of kindness, Mission Trip Birdsboro & Beyond seeks to remind every neighbor that they are seen, valued, and loved.
Workdays will run from Wednesday, July 15, through Saturday, July 18, with St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Birdsboro, serving as headquarters and staging area. The mission kicks off with an orientation meeting on Sunday, July 12, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s.
This year, 142 volunteers will complete 63 projects throughout the week, including work at 61 residential properties and two community service projects.

In addition to outdoor work, indoor projects allow volunteers to escape the summer heat while supporting important community organizations. Last year, volunteers helped stock the Daniel Boone Area School District’s Caring Closets, which provide non-perishable food and personal care items to students in need. The mission continues to support this valuable program. This year, volunteers will also be making catnip-filled toys for the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, providing enrichment for shelter animals while they await adoption.
What began as a simple desire to follow Christ’s example of helping those in need has grown into a powerful experience that transforms not only the lives of those being served but also the lives of the volunteers themselves. Each painted wall, repaired roof, shared meal, and heartfelt conversation becomes a reflection of hope and humanity.
Deeply rooted in the local community, projects are developed alongside residents to meet specific needs. But Mission Trip Birdsboro & Beyond is about more than projects, organizers said.
“It’s about relationships. It’s about showing up for people. It’s about creating moments where faith, love, and community meet in meaningful ways.”
The mission takes a holistic approach that combines service, reflection, mentorship, and spiritual growth.
Throughout the week, teams work alongside residents, churches, and community partners to address practical needs while building lasting connections. Volunteers encounter situations they may not have previously recognized within their own community, giving the mission a distinctive educational aspect. Many volunteers describe the experience as life-changing — an opportunity to step outside themselves and witness the power of service firsthand.
Yet the Mission Trip Birdsboro & Beyond’s impact is not limited to immediate projects. The mission also fosters long-term relationships, creates ripple effects throughout the community, and inspires volunteers to carry a spirit of service beyond the week itself as they strive to live by Christ’s directive to “love your neighbor.”
In a world that can often feel divided and uncertain, Mission Trip Birdsboro & Beyond stands as a reminder that compassion still unites people, kindness still matters, and hope can still be built one act of service at a time.
Community members are encouraged to support the mission through prayer, donations, partnerships, and volunteer involvement. Every contribution helps strengthen the impact and extend the reach of this meaningful work.
Together, Mission Trip Birdsboro & Beyond continues to share a simple but powerful message: when people come together in service, love, and faith, lives are changed.
