SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa.- A meeting that many residents of South Whitehall Township and the surrounding area have been waiting for since the beginning of the year is now just two days away.

Project Atlas, the name given to the hyperscale data center project pitched for a large swath of land across from Parkland High School, is on the agenda for the township’s planning commission meeting on Thursday night.

The meeting has been delayed at least twice before at the developer’s request, but South Whitehall Township Manager Tom Petrucci told 69 News he anticipated Thursday’s meeting to happen as scheduled.

69 News has reported extensively on the project since plans first surfaced in December of 2025. Those plans have since been scaled back to what is now in front of South Whitehall’s planners.

Developer CDE Acquisitions LLC wants to build three data center buildings, one administration building, and one warehouse building, for a total of more than 1.5 million square feet of development on 410 acres of land.

The site is a combination of three parcels: 2493 N. Cedar Crest Boulevard, 2807 N. Cedar Crest Boulevard, and 2747 N. Cedar Crest Boulevard.

The original plan called for six buildings totaling more than 5 million square feet.

Although Project Atlas may be the most hotly anticipated item on the planning commission’s agenda, it’s not the only one.

The board will also review a revised plan from Nestle Purina for wastewater treatment upgrades at its facility on Pope Road. 

The project was first submitted in 2021, then revised and resubmitted in 2023, and finally updated again this year.

A third submission- a proposal from St. Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church to relocate from Emmaus to a plot of land at 670 S. Cedar Crest Boulevard- was taken off the agenda at the applicant’s request, Petrucci told 69 News.

The church has submitted plans for a nearly 11,000-square-foot sanctuary, a 600-square-foot chapel, a 10,342-square-foot fellowship hall, and small storage building on the site of the former Kuss Brothers Nursery.

The South Whitehall Township Planning Commission will meet on Thursday, July 9 beginning at 7 p.m. at Springhouse Middle School at 1200 Springhouse Road.

There will be no remote access to the meeting through GoToMeeting.  Anyone who wishes to comment must attend the meeting in person.
