A western Pennsylvania-based home improvement contractor is being sued by the state attorney general after he said the company failed to fulfill contracts with its customers. According to a release from AG Dave Sunday, the lawsuit accuses A&S Contracting and Roofing, LLC, and its owner, Stephen Spallone, of violating Pennsylvania’s Consumer Protection Law and Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act. Sunday said the company and its owner abandoned projects after obtaining more than $56,000 in deposits from consumers. The lawsuit also alleges A&S used non-compliant contracts with consumers.The lawsuit seeks to permanently prevent A&S Contracting & Roofing, LLC, from doing business as a home improvement contractor in Pennsylvania, as well as pay consumer restitution in the form of refunds, civil penalties, and costs, the release said. Sunday said in the release that six customers filed complaints with the Bureau of Consumer Protection alleging that they paid the company thousands in down payments for home improvement projects such as roofing and gutter replacement, construction of decks and patios, and siding replacement.
