Alan Pugliese
OBITUARY
Alan Pugliese, of Carbondale, passed away on Monday, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. He was 84 years old. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine (Van Louvender) Pugliese. The couple were married on December 9, 1972.
Born in Scranton on October 26, 1941, and son of the late Alphonse and Romaine (Leader) Pugliese, Alan attended the former Scranton Central High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War before his honorable discharge from service. He worked as a technician for Xerox Company in Hopatcong, N.J. before returning home where he worked for the Pennsylvania State Office of Unemployment prior to his retirement.
Strong-headed in his opinions, Alan was always up for a good debate. Well-read, his preparation led to an undefeated debate record as he was always correct. He loved WWII movies, a trip to the casino, and collecting things lots of them. He was a proud veteran who will never be forgotten.
Along with Elaine, he is survived by his daughter, Brenda Cruse and husband Charles Chuck of Jermyn; his grandchildren, Emily who adored her pop pop, David, Charles and James; his brother, Joseph Pugliese and wife Linda of N.J.; his niece, Jacklyn Alvitch and husband Jason; and his phone buddies, Richard, George, Bob and Paul. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister and a nephew, Joseph Pugliese.
Funeral services by Rev. Arthur Harshman are scheduled for Thursday at 5:00 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, followed by military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard. Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until services. Interment, Arlington National Cemetery.
