EASTON, Pa. — Easton is celebrating its history and heritage this week!
On Wednesday night, the community gathered together for the Easton Declaration Dinner to commemorate 250 years of the reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Thyme Rooftop Grille in Easton transformed into a celebration of history Wednesday night.
“July 8th has a special place here in Easton because we were one of only three communities that had a public reading of the Declaration on July 8th, one in Philly, one in Trenton,” says State Rep. Bob Freeman, District 136.
And the other right here in Easton.
“Everybody’s very excited to be here,” says Tara Zrinski, the Northampton County Executive.
The Easton Declaration dinner was a night full of good food drinks and good company, but the highlight: A reading of the Declaration of Independence from Benjamin Franklin.
Hosted by Lehigh Valley 250 in partnership with the Greater Easton Development Partnership and the Northampton County Historical And Genealogical Society, the event commemorates Easton’s role in the history of the birth of our nation.
“Shows a lot of support in the community and I think a recognition of the very special prominence that Easton holds in our history,” says Rep. Freeman.
