ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A new queen has been named at this year’s Great Allentown Fair. Four young women vied for the title which represents the Lehigh Valley’s agricultural community.
One day one of the Allentown Fair, 18-year-old Olivia Wisser of New Tripoli was crowned Fair Queen. Wisser comes from a family of farmers and currently works on her family’s dairy farm. Wisser plans to study animal science with a focus on dairy cattle nutrition at Penn State.
“My fair offers the public everything they can ask for. From piglet races to magic shows, there’s always something for everyone at the Great Allentown Fair,” said Wisser during her contestant speech.
Wisser was crowned by last year’s Queen, Zoie Jones.
“To be the Great Allentown Fair Queen you need want to represent and share agriculture and the Great Allentown Fair,” Jones told 69 News.
Each year, those awarded Fair Queen receive a $1,500 college scholarship and attend events spreading the message of the Great Allentown Fair.
“Agriculture is the heart of the Great Allentown Fair and this year there are around 850 animals for fairgoers to see,” Wisser stated.
