HARRISBURG, Pa. – Pennsylvania health officials say there have been more than 100 measles cases in the state this year so far.
Since late April, those cases have included three in Berks County and four in Chester County.
Many of the cases are in Lancaster and Lebanon counties.
Measles is a very contagious viral infection. It spreads through the air, often from an infected person’s cough or sneeze.
Symptoms include a high fever, cough, runny nose and rash. They usually appear in seven to 14 days of being exposed, but they could take up to 21 days.
Health officials say vaccines provide the best protection against getting sick.
