I just took *** quick trip to Monroeville, and the turnpike was crazy busy today, much more than than usual, so I assume people are trying to find the alternate ways around. Pendot says to avoid extensive delays on the posted detours, they suggest *** few other routes like the Turnpike and Interstate 79, Route 48, and Route 148. They also suggest the turnpike and Route 28 that goes to Harmor Township using Freeport Road. Drivers say Route 28 is already congested. Absolutely crazy, and, um, the farther you go towards Pittsburgh, the crazier it gets. So I would expect Highland Park Bridge area is going to be more jammed up than usual, and, uh, and the farther you go towards Pittsburgh, I think it’s just going to get busier and busier. Sometime last week we were backed up from waterworks to harbor exit, and I can tell you if you. You get on the turnpike headed east. The next exits are going to be Monroeville, Pittsburgh, and Route 22 East Murraysville. So get ready to add time to your commute. But drivers say they understand the work needs to be done. We’d love to have no traffic except me driving down 28, but the reality is the bridge has to be worked on. Things have to be fixed. And here are some real-time travel times from Pendant. Pendot says downtown to Monroeville, eastbound or outbound using local detour. 35 minutes. The interstate detour is 35 minutes too, and using the turnpike and Route 28 is 25 minutes. The Shapiro administration has launched *** specialized 511PA website to assist travelers in navigating the closure.
