OBITUARY
Anne Ruddy 85, a resident of Linwood Nursing & Rehab. died Wednesday evening at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Ruddy in 2003.
Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Marcus J. Giblin & Gertrude Buckley Giblin & Mary Burns Giblin. She was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and Mercy School of Nursing.
She worked as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital (Regional Hospital Scranton) in Labor & Delivery and various physician offices. Prior to her retirement, she was the nurse at the I.H.M. Center at Marywood University Scranton. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church Scranton.
Surviving are her daughters Mary Torquato and husband Jim, Ellen Dempsey and husband Bob, Ann Conway and husband Bill, her son Edward and wife Jessica, her grandchildren, Alexis Connors & husband Dylan, Maria Torquato, Jake & Bobby Dempsey, Elizabeth Conway and fiance Jordan White, Annabelle, Catherine, Bridgette, Maggie & Mae Conway. Craig, Karissa, Zachary, and Spencer Kalinoski, a brother Mark Giblin and wife Linda, sisters Ellen Creaghead and husband Joseph, Joan Sugarman, Elizabeth Adams and husband Donald. Sister-in-law Mary Anne Ruddy, several nieces & nephews & four grand nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Thomas & Jack Ruddy and sister-in-law Martha Ruddy.
Our family would like to acknowledge the administration, nurses, CNA’s and staff of Linwood Nursing & Rehab. We would especially like to thank PA, Nancy Schimelfinig, Social Worker, Deidre Novajosky, CNA’s Rashida Ellison and Kim Scherer, and staffers Mary Anne Abdo, and Mazella Brown for the loving care they gave to our mother throughout her stay. Our family would also like to thank nurse Samantha Knowlton and the entire team at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care. One final thanks, to our mother’s Guardian Angel, Peggy Mannion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Van Loon on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St Paul’s Church, 1510 Penn Avenue, Scranton, PA. Internment Dunmore Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Albert P. O’Donnell, 2025 Green Ridge Street, Dunmore.
