Key Players for 2026
Katerina Buckmeier (#13), Senior, Setter
Buckmeier was the Nighthawks’ lone returning varsity player last season and provided a steady presence throughout a difficult rebuilding year. Now entering her senior season with a more experienced group around her, she’ll once again be counted on to lead the offense and set the pace on the court.
Addison Schmitz (#3), Senior, Outside Hitter
Schmitz turned in several strong performances despite the Nighthawks’ record and established herself as one of the team’s most reliable all-around players. Her defensive presence and experience will be key for Hettinger-Scranton.
Delaynah Nagel (#1), Junior, Libero
A strong multi-sport athlete, Nagel embraced a bigger role last season and continued to grow with each match. Her athleticism and ability to anchor the back row give the Nighthawks another dependable piece as they continue to build.

The final two seniors on the Nighthawks’ roster, Timm and Maychrzak will look to make an impact in their final season while bringing experience to a young Hettinger-Scranton squad.

2025 Recap
Hettinger-Scranton endured a challenging 2025 season, finishing 3-17-2 as the Nighthawks navigated a major rebuilding year. After graduating 12 seniors the year before, the program returned just one varsity player, forcing a young roster into significant roles from the first set. While the record certainly showed those growing pains, the season provided valuable experience for a group that gained confidence with every opportunity, even as the program now turns the page following the departure of head coach Reba Resner.
Forward Thinking
After a season spent gaining valuable varsity experience, Hettinger-Scranton enters the fall with a much different outlook. The Nighthawks return a young core that’s had a year to grow together, led by standout setter Katerina Buckmier, and will look to turn last season’s lessons into more wins. While the focus remains on playing fundamentally sound volleyball and continuing to build confidence, Hettinger-Scranton hopes to be in a much better position to compete night in and night out.
