BERN TWP., Pa. – Fresh and tasty eats, including artisan flatbreads, signature wings and social plates and specialties such as Cajun chicken and sausage, Calabrian chili mussels and wild mushroom mignon, take center stage at a new dining establishment in Berks County.
The Post, a family-friendly restaurant and bar, held its grand opening on Wednesday at 2747 Bernville Road in Bern Township.
The updated property was previously home to The Hitching Post Restaurant & Bar, which closed in 2024 after 13 years of operation.
The Post, which held a soft opening on June 16, has a tagline of “food, drinks, good times.”

The menu features “social plates” – great for sharing – such as cheesesteak egg rolls, garlic truffle fries, a charcuterie board and hummus trio; and “handfuls” – served with seasoned fries – such as Baja fish tacos, burrata and prosciutto panini, Italian roast pork (roast pork, pesto, spinach, confit tomatoes and provolone on Liscio roll) and “The Bougie Burger” (flank steak, wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, blue cheese and roasted garlic aioli on toasted artisan baguette).
Guests also can enjoy premium entrees and seared and sauteed dishes such as lomo saltado (seared 12-ounce ribeye topped with house chimichurri, served alongside truffle garlic parm fries and optional shrimp or lobster tail), “New York, New York” (12-ounce New York strip seared to perfection, served with two sides and optional shrimp or lobster tail), grilled salmon and chicken Milanese.
Classic Caesar and strawberry burrata salads are available with optional chicken, shrimp or salmon.
Other menu highlights include artisan flatbreads such as margherita and Greek (olive tapenade, feta, red onions, tomatoes, pepperoncini, red sauce and mozzarella); soups and sides such as lobster bisque, French onion soup and seasonal vegetables; and kids menu options such as chicken tenders, grilled cheese and spaghetti and sauce.
A full bar offers a wide array of classic and signature cocktails, including “The Reaper” (Ghost Tequila, lime, agave, cucumber and basil), “Island Spice” (Captain Morgan, Combier Banana, creme of coconut and pineapple) and carajillo (Espolon Reposado, Patron XO, Licor 43 and fresh espresso).
There’s also a variety of beer, available on draft and in cans and bottles.
